Modern Slavery Statement for Man and a Van Stockwell
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Man and a Van Stockwell in relation to the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to respect and uphold human rights and to ensure that our business activities do not cause, contribute to, or benefit from any form of modern slavery.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Man and a Van Stockwell provides local and regional transport and moving services. Our supply chains include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging providers, subcontracted drivers, and various professional and support services. We understand that risks can arise at any stage of these supply chains, particularly where temporary labour, subcontracting, or international sourcing are involved.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, servitude, and child labour. This applies to all individuals working for or on behalf of Man and a Van Stockwell, including employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers. We are committed to ensuring that all work is voluntary, fairly paid, and carried out in a safe and respectful environment.
Our zero-tolerance approach means we will refuse to engage with, or will immediately cease engagement with, any supplier, contractor, or partner found to be in breach of our standards on modern slavery. We expect all organisations we work with to share our commitment and to implement robust measures to prevent exploitation in their own operations and supply chains.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We expect our suppliers and subcontractors to comply with all applicable labour, human rights, and employment laws, and to uphold our principles regarding modern slavery. New suppliers are subject to due diligence checks appropriate to the level of risk, which may include questions about labour practices, recruitment processes, and the use of subcontractors or agencies.
Where we identify higher-risk categories, such as subcontracted labour or overseas sourcing of equipment, we apply enhanced scrutiny. We also reserve the right to request supporting evidence from suppliers that demonstrates how they are preventing modern slavery, including policies, training records, and documented procedures.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Man and a Van Stockwell is developing a risk-based audit process to monitor compliance with our modern slavery requirements. This may include desktop audits, requests for documentation, and on-site visits where appropriate and proportionate to the risk identified.
If an audit or review highlights potential concerns, we will work with the supplier to agree an improvement plan with clear timescales. Where issues are serious or repeatedly unaddressed, we may suspend or terminate the relationship. Our aim is to promote continuous improvement while ensuring that we do not tolerate exploitation in any form.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our team members, especially those involved in procurement, supplier management, and recruitment. Training and guidance focus on identifying warning signs, understanding our policies, and knowing how to escalate concerns.
Our people are reminded that ethical conduct is fundamental to our reputation and that adherence to our modern slavery standards is a condition of employment and engagement.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Everyone working for or with Man and a Van Stockwell is encouraged to report any concerns related to modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised directly with line management or senior management, or through any internal reporting route that is made available from time to time.
We will treat all reports seriously, investigate them promptly and sensitively, and take appropriate action where needed. We will not tolerate any form of retaliation against a person who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated after investigation.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that addressing modern slavery is an ongoing process and that risks may change over time. Man and a Van Stockwell is committed to continuously improving our approach by reviewing our policies, due diligence measures, and audit programmes in light of experience, emerging best practice, and legal developments.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually by senior management to assess its effectiveness and to identify areas for enhancement. Any significant changes to our approach will be communicated internally and reflected in updated versions of this statement.
This statement has been approved by the management of Man and a Van Stockwell, who take overall responsibility for ensuring that it is implemented throughout the business.
